Welcome coach Julimar!

Since October 2023, our football academy in Pune got an additional international coach. Julimar Camargo Junior is a FIFA certified football coach from Brazil.

As a Brazilian, he has football running in his veins since he was born, in Vila Velha city, Espírito Santo state in Brazil. He is just 28 years old but has had a lot of international exposure, including running a business in Bangalore and Goa a few years ago.

Julimar is married to Thaisy, also a Brazilian. They have a 3-year old son, Emanuel.

Our Kalyani Nagar kids

Since August 2022 we are having the opportunity to coach some young players from the Raheja Woods society in Kalyani Nagar, Pune. Coach Joyson is in charge of this new batch under the supervision of senior coach Diego Contreras, from Chile in South America.

From the start we could see the kids’ willingness and efforts to learn and practice new skills. Every session ends with a highly competitive but friendly match.

“The interest and passion for football is growing exponentially among young boys and girls in India. And these kids are having the opportunity to learn and practice football from early ages, which will give them a head start when playing with their friends in the neighbourhood or in school”, commented Josue Tanaami, one of CTM Sports’ directors.

From the month of June onwards we started offering our professional football coaching classes at the well maintained sports ground of the Boston World School in Undri, Pune.

We now have 3 batches from Monday to Saturday as follows:

– Boys and girls 4 to 7 years: Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 7PM

– Boys and girls 8 to 11 years: Wednesday and Saturdays from 6 yo 7PM

– Boys and girls 12 to 17 years: Tuesday and Fridays from 5:30 to 7PM

How long we waited for this day to come! Exactly two years ago, in March of 2020, we had to stop virtually everything as the Covid pandemic hit India and the world and change everybody’s lives forever!

Now as life gets back to normal, we are so glad to meet sports biggest enthusiasts: the kids and teenagers! It is so fun to see them learning new skills, fighting for every ball or at times just enjoying playing with the grass or having a chat with friends right in the middle of the ground!

Our team of qualified coaches and assistant coaches are always available to help them achieve their goals, be them improve their football skills or simply be a sports enthusiast and enjoy fun and friendship on and off the field!

Practice Sports to Fight Depression

When Covid-19 surfaced globally in February-March 2020, nobody could have imagined that it would take at least two years until things would start getting better.

Life hasn’t been easy for anyone, but specially for teenagers. Online classes and the lack of face to face interaction and physical activities have taken a toll in their lives to the point that many became demotivated, suffered from depression or simply lost direction and hope.

Dr. Michael Craig Miller, assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School wrote an article entitled “Exercise is an all-natural treatment to fight depression”. He points out the positive effects of exercise in people’s mind, body and emotions.

As life starts getting back to normal, may we all include sports and intentional physical activities in our daily routine. They are one of the best natural treatment for depression.

Former CTM student shines

Stephen Chiru, who did some of his early trainings with us in Pune, is now shining at the Karnataka state football tournaments. Stephen’s father, Mr. Ashong Chiru sent us the above photo saying:

“In yesterday’s match (20/11/2021) Stephen – who is now playing for Stadium FC Academy – got the ‘man of the match’ award. Please continue to pray for him as he plays in Bengaluru.” Mr. Ashong sent this message of appreciation saying, “Stephen is a CTM Sports’ product!”

Congratulations Stephen! We are very proud of your achievements so far! May your football career soar to much higher heights!

Gold, silver or bronze?

Once in four years the whole Globe turns its attention to the Olympic Games. This year in Tokyo it wasn’t different. 11.000 athletes from 205 countries are contending for glory in 339 events. They are the top-notch, the best of the best!

What does it take for one to get to the top and win a medal? Saint Paul wrote: “All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal… I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I got. I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.” Discipline, training, hard work, giving everything, staying alert are essencial qualities for you to finish well.

The same principles apply to our lives as well. Therefore, be it on the field or off it, let’s strive and give our best to go for gold and finish well!

Top Teams in Action!

While we wait for the State and Central Governments to ease the restrictions caused by the pandemic, we bet many of you cut short sleeping hours in June and July to follow the Euro 2020 and the Copa America 2021.

Football is a fascinating game, full of surprises and in many ways unpredictable. This is also part of the beauty of the game. Who would have predicted, for example, that some of the world top teams that were in the so called “group of death” – the defending champions Portugal and the last two world champions Germany and France – wouldn’t go past the quarter finals? France and Portugal were ousted even before that, in the round of 16! Yes, in Copa America we had less surprises with Brazil and Argentina reaching the finals.

As we watched some of the top countries in the world play, perhaps we can be more attentive to the technical details that make a team perform: team formation, attacking and defending positions, set pieces, physical fitness, agility in transitioning from defending to attacking and vice-versa, creating spaces, goalkeeping, et. These are the very issues that we stress in our coaching sessions day in and day out!

So as we enjoy watching matches, let’s hope we will continue improving our own games, learning from some of these top teams in action. And let the best teams win!

The Waiting is Over!

The waiting is over! We are pleased to announce that, after a gap of almost 10 months, we have started running our football coaching sessions in Pune.

Coach Diego and his team are excited to see kids and teenagers eager to learn more and practice the so called “beautiful game”.

Brazil-India Connection

For more than 15 years CTM Sports and Brazil Sports Network have brought dozens of football players and coaches in some of the top clubs in India such as Mohan Bagan, East Bengal, Dempo Club, Churchil Brothers, Vasco Club, etc.

But this Brazil-India connection was never intended to be a one-way road. And it was in 2011 that we sent the first Indian player to Brazil for advance coaching.

Samarth Salvi, a student from St. Vincent College in Pune, was 15 at the time he was sent to Sao Paulo for a 2 years contract. From being a star striker in India, he faced a tougher challenge playing among Brazilians. But it was a great learning experience for him and for us as a company.

We are hoping that in years to come this Brazil-India connection will continue to see many young boys going oversees to learn the art of playing the “beautiful game”!
