On 25 March 2017 a group of highly motivated and excited boys and girls from Pune enjoyed a day they will probably remember for a long time! It was the last day of football coaching with Coach Ernesto (from Bolivia), Coach Romario (from Brazil) and Assistant Coach Laban (from Manipur). The evening started with the usual football skills practice, followed by highly disputed matches for the prize of “the best team”.
Later in the day, with the presence of many parents, friends and well-wishers, including Rev. Achu Chang, pastor of NCF, Dr. Lanu Jamir, acting Principal of the UBS and Mr. and Mrs. Cini, owners of Coffee Jar, we had a lovely presentation ceremony, where 25 of the participants received their certificates of achievement and medals.
“It was a well organised program, from beginning to end,” commented one of the parents, referring to the coaching sessions that ran on Saturday evenings from 13/12/2016 to 25/03/2017. “We will all miss this day!” said Assistant Coach Laban. More than the certificates and medals, what will hopefully remain in the hearts of the participants are the fun times, new skills acquired, “skills for life” they learned and a deeper level of friendship they experienced throughout these three months.
